Yes, and it's a fraudulent one too. "They" can't garnish anything. Only a judge can order that. They're using a very old intimidation tactic. Tell them that until you've received a notice of validation by mail (NOT e-mail or fax.) and have verified its contents you will pay them NOTHING.
Research and know your rights under the FDCPA. It's easy, just Google it.

THESE PEP CALLED MY PLACE OF BUSINESS AND SPOKE TO MY PAYROLL..PAYROLL ADVISED ME THAT IF SOMEONE WANTED TO SUE YOU THRU COURTS THEN THEY USUALLY WILL CONTACT YOUR PLACE OF BUSINESS 1ST TO SEE IF THEY ARE WORKING OR WORTH PURSING??

Yes, scumbag debt collectors will negotiate at anytime. Including after you're served. Not that you have to worry about it. It's clear that you haven't been supplied with a notice of validation. By mail. NOT e-mail or fax. As per federal regulations under the FDCPA. No notice of validation? Pay them NOTHING.
Harassment at work is a ploy that's ONLY used by bogus and/or fraudulent collectors who are attempting to collect on invalid, time-barred or purely imaginary debt. A collector is permitted to call a place of work ONCE. And then only to confirm employment. Demands to talk to HR are simply intimidation tactics used by scammers.
If you are in debt, pay it or make arrangements to do so. But ONLY after you have verified the debt and the outfit trying to collect it.
