I answered the phone, being a local number and all, and was addressed by my name. It was a call center call. The woman went into some shpeell about kids with cancer and the Jaycee's. I hung up. Just another scammer "professional fundraiser" that keeps 90% of every dollar collected.
Same here. Annoying, unwanted call, where no one is on the line when I pick up. May or may not be a spoofed number, but "unknown name" was on caller id. People suck, and scammers pretending to be a charity particularly suck and should rot in hell.

got some gal who seemed to know nothing, but who admitted she was "under the jaycees."
asked for supervisor. got mike who said he worked for a Mike Lomax, a former vice president of the jaycees
said he had no other number to contact Lomax. also said above Lomax was a Kevin Blewitt, a former board member of the jaycees.
No name or number for anybody actually currently with the jaycees.
Investigation continues.
Kevin Blewit owns a commercial company called "charitable resource group" and claims to have a contract to raise money for the jaycees, and takes a cut of the money he raised.
Got a call from them asking for donations for dogs for veterans. I let her go through her speel and then said that I never give money to any person or group that calls me and could I please be taken off their calling list. She just hung up. So I called back and an elderly gentleman answered it and knew my name off the bat and I politely asked him to take me off of his calling list and he said he'll take care of it.
Got a lot of calls also from some police officer's association and told them repeatedly to stop calling me. Blocked their numbers but they kept using different ones. Finally I told them I'm NEVER going to give money to them so it's just harassment at this point. I know they are exempt from the Do Not Call list but does that mean they can just keep calling you and calling and calling?
Anyway, from now on I will tell anyone who calls asking for money that I never give money to charities that call me and they are now on my list of blocked charities. Maybe everyone should start doing this. If you have money burning a whole in your pocket you just have to give away I'm sure that can be done on your own initiative.
Just got a call from this number. In my usual manner I started speaking in 'Minion' (my grand kids love it when I do this, and we do get some entertainment out of it). The callers usually hang up immediately, but sometimes they ask me what language I'm speaking. I continue my fake language a bit then say MINION. They just hang up right there for some reason. Seems like they should provide a minion speaking specialist to me, isn't that the politically correct thing to do?
