Got a call from this number and asked for eddy johnson (i have never heard the name) then she said no I am the one she is trying to get ahold of. She says she is calling about my Infinity G35 (I do not have one) and that i need to purchase the extended warrenty. I argues for a couple minutes before laughing and then hung up. Its a scam to get your Vehicle info. DO NOT ANSWER.
I played along until I identified reps for Monitronics & Maximum Security, The call started with a robotic message to pitch an alarm system by saying the FBI reported a lot of break ins. I pushed one and was connected to a rep for "security services" who then transferred me to "Monitronics Scheduling". The Monitronics rep told me a technician from Maximum Security would come to install the system.
This call came to my wireless # that has been on the National Do Not Call Registry for years.
Maximum has called this same wireless number repeatedly despite the fact that I have told them to stop calling me.
The Caller ID suggested a number out of Texas. Maximum Security is out of California and the toll free # the rep gave me was 888-564-5621 extension 7.
FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FCC IF YOU GET THIS CALL.
We cannot rely on the Do Not Call Registry because it is overwhelmed with complaints and is essentially powerless because many of these calls to not originate in the United States and they are not able to handle the volume of call complaints that do originate in the USA.
The only effective way to stop these types of calls is to:
1. Do not answer if you don't recognize the caller ID. Many landline/internet based telephones have a voice synthesizer that can help you make the decision while sitting across the room from your phone.
2. Many phone service providers offer a call blocking feature that can be helpful because you can create your own personal do not call list. Get on the internet and shop around.
Accept the fact that these callers are like cockroaches - we can control them to some extent but we will never be able to completely get rid of them.
I don't have any advice for cell phone only users because I only use mine as a mobile telephone, turning it on only when making or expecting a call.
Ignorant and persistent annoying robo call which refuses to disconnect when the hook-switch is flashed. If I ever need to call 911 while they have my line hijacked, they'll be opening their bank account.
