Got a voicemail on my home number. It was a prerecorded message stating I should not ignore this call, because it's from the US Treasury Department and this is their 2nd attempt to contact me. Apparently I have committed a "serious criminal offense" and I should call them back on the number listed to avoid having to go before a Magistrate or Judge or Grand Jury for said offense. I am to call immediately to "resolve this issue"!
Since they never told me what the issue is, I decided to ignore the call. I figure if the US Treasury really wants me, they would have FBI on my doorstep, and they would not call me so I would have a chance to RUN! Lol.
Hi Betty, I got the same call, I reported the number to the IRS/US Treasury Dept. They have a form to fill out and are well aware of the scam. They had a list of numbers that the scammers are using, but this number 301-223-3003 was not on the list...so it's new. I do have the number from the IRS if you would like to make a complaint to them about the phone call. The number is 800-366-4484 They have already made an arrest on one guy, and are working to catch the others.
