Really tired of these calls on my answering machine. You would think that this site would provide information on how to stop the calls. Time consuming and annoying.
Received a call just now. Stated they were calling from the US treasury and I needed to call them back immediately to avoid federal prosecution. This has to be a crime impersonating a federal agency. I am contacting my local FBI with this information. No one from the US Treasury is working at 6:45 PM that I am sure of; except security guards.
Received call from this no. and was told this was the second time they tried to reach us, but they had never called before. They stated it was regarding a enforcement action and we needed to call them back to talk to an agent from the treasury dept. Attempted to call and the phone did not even ring. Thought it was a scam from the start. I am sick and tired of getting these calls from all these scam artists.
They were Indian and spoke with a heavy accent when I called 301-223-3005. He said he was from the Internal Revenue Department and with the Dept of Criminal Investigation. He gave me a case number and told me his name was Marcus Howard. When I asked to talk to his manager he hung up. I have paid all of my taxes and actually received a refund this year!
Left a message that it was the grand jury for federal criminal offense. This is their final attempt to reach me. To resolve this issue immediately and to speak to a federal agent call this number.
I received a phone call today from someone saying they were from the Criminal & Revenue Dept. of the IRS and that I owed taxes from 2010 through 2015 in the amount of about $30,000. that my Case # was 579140682DC. That their badge number was 151992 and that if I didn't pay it today they would contact the court and I would be sued, they could take my house, my land, my retirement, etc to pay the penalties I owed.
I thought the person was a woman, but when I asked for their name, it was said to be Marcus Howard. I asked what had been incorrect on my taxes and they told me form 8839, and I asked what was wrong again and the person told me that the IRS was suing me and that I just needed to pay up. Then they hung up!! I was a CPA for 35 years before retiring two years ago and I always stayed on top of the law and prepared the tax returns honestly and correctly the best I could for my clients - and myself too!
