Got a call off them today! same story as above....that they work for microsoft and my computer was at risk etc etc so i thought i would play a wee game with them!!
I told them (after 5 mins cause he wouldn't shut up) that i only have 1 computer in the house and that it belonged to my daughter and was a barbie plastic gaming one! he then went on to tell me that he could fix it as it has a nasty virus on it. I was telling them that it was pink and helps you learn numbers and your abc's etc and that it doesn't connect to the internet! haha (couldn't help myself)
then when i asked for his number he said it was +44141416080 and then hung up and rung me back from 016712179514. I was trying to make polite chit chat about the weather and asked him where he was from to which he said....China (to be fair it sounded it), making out that my daughters barbie 'toy' laptop was a risk i asked for his name and he said Andrew Smith....(sounds very Chinese), i told him my name was Victoria Beckham and that i worked for the Police and he could call me PC Andrew Smith......OMG he sooooo fell for it as well!!!!! then i told him i was recording the call he said .... "get f**ked" (in a very English accent) and hung up!!!! SCAM SCAM SCAM....and not a convincing one at that!!!
This was the most bizarre call ever. I got called by a man with poor English saying that 'my partner and I entered a contest over Christmas' and we were selected to win one of four prizes and that he was calling from Sony. He assumed our ages incorrectly and then told us to collect our prizes we didn't need to spend any money, or give any personal information, we just had to show up in Georgetown in Washington DC and we would receive our prize. When I told him he had my age incorrect, he said that was too bad and I basically just said no thank you and got off the phone. Definitely random, and totally strange.
