Received a call from 301-595-5983. The caller ID shows as "VALUE VLLG ENTE" which I assumed is Value Village Enterprise (There is a Value Village/Salvation Army store in the Baltimore area). But the caller said they are collecting donations for the National Children Center and would we have anything available for pick-up on Friday January 11, 2008, and please have bags on front porch by 8am labeled NCC. We have tons of stuff and piled up our front porch. It is now 5:00pm and no truck has come to pick up the stuff.
That's when I decided to look up NCC and found this web site. I just finished calling the number and it just rings (no one answers). I don't mind donating our stuff to a worthy cause and have actually donated other items to a similar caller in 2007 (although it was a woman caller the first time). That donation was picked up on the designated date. The main concern that I have is that I want to make sure our donation is actually going to the NCC. I donated items that I would think are worthy/valuable (car seats, strollers, toys, clothes) and I would really hate it if these are just people trying to get free items to resell for personal profit. Any info would be appreciated.
