I received a call From Capitol Management claiming to be from the IRS. They said I was due a refund on my taxes. Wanted me to put $200 on a Greendot Card as a penalyty for making a mistake on my taxes. I do not file I am on Disability.
Told them to send proof in the mail
I also just recieved a call from this number. They left a message telling me they will deposit my refund when they confirm my credentials. Judging by all the similiar messages I'm reading here, this is definitely a scam. This same type of thing happened to us 5 years ago but they said they were from the Financial Aid Office and had a free aid money for us. Our son was a freshman in college that year so we ALMOST fell for it. Luckilly I asked too many questions and they got spooked and hung up. I happen to know that when the IRS calls you, it shows up as an Unlisted number. Hope this helps save someone from falling into the trap.
Who are these people and left an electronic sounding message to call to verify my credentials to get a refund. I called and the person who answered said "IRS". I hung up...called again and then the person just said "Hello?"
TOTAL SCAM!! No doubt they are trying to get account information to "give you a refund" LOL!! Or drain your account
