I have started receiving these calls on my cell phone. I'm 31 and they're asking for my 54 year old father. Why would he give them my cell phone number as a contact for a bill from a collections agency? He asked that I let my father know they had called or give them a number for him, I replied that unless he gave me a purpose for the call, I would not relay the message. He wouldn't tell me if it was related to a credit card, service bill, etc. I responded that unless he was going to give me some kind of information, I was not going to pass on the message. He started yelling as I hung up the phone. I have to refer to my kids phrase here, These guys are totally Whack!
In my situation, it was a completely legitimate call from the collections agency RPM. Like the other person from Arizona, they had been contacted by SRP about a bill I owed (one that SRP had never told me about after I moved out of my last apartment, making SRP the bad guy here). However, I do agree, the man I spoke to was incredibly rude. Even after I told him I would contact SRP about the situation; he treated me like some ignorant bill-dodger when it was an honest mistake. I would advise that if they tell you that you owe a company money, hang up on RPM and CALL THE COMPANY. If there is a problem, take care of it and tell them to make sure they update RPM on the situation. I had to call SRP twice to get them to call off their dogs, and I'm still getting calls.
I received a call from this number this morning and they left no message. I found their website based on caller ID and information from previous commentors. I called their main inquiry line at 800-618-6709 and asked why they were calling. They were looking for a person first name Daniel same last name as mine. This is obviously because my phone number is listed with first initial "D" in phone book. The representative was very courteous and removed my phone number from their calling list.
I have been receiving calls from this number and 1-703291-9039 for over a month. They usually let the phone ring just twice. Once in a while a message is left to call 1-877-8521. I have no idea why I am being targeted.
