This number has been calling for months, started out with six a day, now down to about two per day. (Does that mean I'm winning?) There have been times where I've gotten a number of calls one after another with different area codes and numbers that show up on my caller ID which I strongley supect are one in the same.
One of the names that shows up is Golden Media as well as Receivablespert. Most of these are 800 type numbers. Do these callers have the ability to control what shows up on my caller ID??? Both name and number? They seem to be able to do this and if so, is that legal? There have been a few times when I would receive a number of calls, one after another, that show different close-by towns. I never picked up on calls that have a number and/or name that I do not recognize. If I did, would it be legal to answer with a blast from an air horn? Would that harm my phone?
This is a great site for angry telephone owners to vent and share ideas for coping with these scum bags.

I just got a call from PACIFICTEL - 253/382-9904!!!
I understand that they give a you an ALMOST FREE Bahama trip for two for answering their political survey and giving them your credit card number (you only have to pay the taxes) AWESOME!!!!
Thsi number has called numerous times a day for the last 10 days+. When I try to answer, no one is there. When I call back, someone will answer, and as soon as I say that I've missed a call from their end the line goes dead. My sister was recently scammed by such a number. As soon as they mentioned lawyer the calls stopped.
these people are ridiculous. They called my house five times while I wasn't home For a couple weeks. Then when i finally did get them on the phone and did make arrangements to pay said debt, they have no note of it. Oh, not to mention I made a payment (that thye did take note of ) less than two weeks ago. This is after they tell me that they don't send bills or emails. I don't know about anyone else but, I need to be reminder to pay some one like a bill collector! Finally I make a payment. Now they tell me I can have written receipt of said payment in 30 days. 30 DAYS!
So now today...called my house all day. I answer the phone when they call. Informed them of payment arrangements, no note on the account. They did however know how much I owed them. Then when I asked for the website, the rep hung up. I called back. Hung up. I called back three more times before I finally got a "supervisor". He said they have my number on a caller I.D. He had my info on the computer screen before he even gave me the website address. Finally got him to put my name on a "do not call list". If this doesn't get them to stop calling, I am going to change my number... hopefully some one else will have better luck dealing with these people.
Received a call from this number on my cell phone while driving. I don't answer while driving and let it go to voice mail. No message left. I am on the do not call registry.
