Called and left no message; called back (with blocked number) and message indicated they are "fund raisers" for a slew of "worthwhile" organizations. SCAM
First call from 'Charity 414-8717' I wasn't home, so the machine picked up. Male voice asked for me by name and as I wasn't there said he would call again. No further message. This morning got another call. I didn't have my glasses on so could not ready the caller id. Came up the same. When I answered male said 'Hi my name is Michael and I'm calling on behalf of the Fraternal order of Police'. I stopped him before he could go any further. Told him to take me number out of their system. He said Ok, but it could take several days. I am reporting this to my local PD as well because I have a private unlisted phone number.
Caller said he was calling for Fraternal Order of Police. I never donate to these types of calls because the charity typically only gets 10% of the donation amount. The charities say that 10% is better than 0% so they don't fight it. Don't waste your money. Send a donation check directly to the charity. This way you know they got all of it and you have a valid record of the donation.
This number calls me at least once a day every day of the week. Every single time, on the voice mail, they ask for me by 1st name, then say "hello, are you there?", & then hang up. They also call from a northern New Jersey number with the same man's voice. This has been going on for months! The callerID always displays the capital letter " i " ....
