Just got a call from this number and I have a brand new service, haven;t even changed my numbers in my personal accounts it's so fresh. I suspect it uses an autodialer to create numbers, because there's no way anyone is looking for me already!
(t-mobile) i just also got a call from this number and had not heard my phone ring called them back almost 7 times and same things it says the number you have dialied is unallocated.. could it possibly like for the election or maybe a republican campaign
Basic rule of thumb: DO NOT ANSWER CALLS from unknown numbers. (I know this may be hard for those who use their cell for biz, but if it's a ligitimate biz call, the caller would leave a message, right?!)
My understanding is these calls are a scam. The caller is attempting to verify if the phone number is working. If you pick up or attempt to return the call, this verifies the phone number is working. Apparently, once verified, the scamer can use your phone number to make calls on your bill. (This is similar to credit card fraud; you may possess your credit card, but you will see charges on your bill you did not authorize b/c somehow the scamer has gotten hold of your credit card numbers/info.) I could be wrong, but thus far, this rule has prevented me from becoming a victim. (& I've had my cell for over 15 years!) Answer @ your own risk!
Very good advise T. I just started doing the same not picking up on my cell but they have also called from other numbers on my house phone and they don't leave messages. Yesterday from another number that I have checked online, a (recorded message) was saying I'm Heather from credit services blah, blah, blah I just hung up.
