I receive every day calls from an advertiser displayed as DE POL BEN on the caller Id. Tried to block the caller number using my Verizon account block feature. However the caller changes its originating phone number with every call. So far I got following phone numbers under the same caller Id DE POL BEN:
(302) 892-4107
(302) 892-4112
(302) 892-4115
(302) 892-4113
I have just filed a complaint on FCC web site: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
There is online form available there to submit under option the "Telemarketing, Prerecorded Messages, Caller ID Spoofing, and Do-Not-Call". I am now waiting for any further development with my complaint.
THIS IS A SCAM
POLICE DEPARTMENTS DON'T SOLICIT FUNDS THRU PHONE CALLS
THIS COMPANY IS A SUPPOSED FUND RAISER FOR PD's AND ONLY GIVE THE POLICE BETWEEN 1 AND 10 PERCENT OF WHAT THEY COLLECT.
SO KEEP YOUR UNWARRANTED COMMENTS ABOUT THE POLICE TO YOURSELF
DE POL BEN, as it shows on the caller ID, is the so-called "Delaware Police Benefits Association." However, none of the LEO's from Middletown, NCC or DE State Police that I have asked, had ever heard of them.
In my humble opinion, this is a scam, thinly disguised as a non-profit.
They apparently have a dozen or more phone numbers to call from and they seem to use them on a rotating basis to get around people blocking them.
Their main office number appears to be 302-892-4100 and many of their numbers start with 892-41xx. Some older posts said that calling the main number to complain helped, but now it looks like they just don't answer that line.
If this company is harassing you, go to www.DoNotCall.gov -- file a complaint if you're registered and register if you're not.
If the harassment keeps up, call the state Attorney General's office. If enough people complain maybe we can get something done.
They call twice a day. When I called them back and requested they remove my number, they were very accommodating. My experience with calls like this have been, If you are direct and honest, (don't tell them you're not there, or unavailable, or in the shower etc.) and ask to be removed, they will do it.
I feel that a lot of people cause themselves aggravation because they are deceptive to tele callers. Just be honest and these folk are happy to respect your wishes. Hope this helps. Hell, after looking into the organization a little deeper, and seeing all they do not only for local police but for the community in general, I decided to call them back and ask for their P.O. Box number. I now donate twice a year. (And I don't give to Anything!) LOLOLOL!!! Turns out they are a good group of people. Who knew............
