Just got a call from the same number. The message I received told me to log onto verizonthankyou.com for a $100 towards my next phone bill. I checked it out and as much as I could tell the page was a mirror image of the actual verizon website. The difference was in the log in menu, which looked similar to Verizon's site, but asked for more info. The links on this fake page seem to send you to the real Verizon page from what I could tell.
Yup, scam. I received the call on my Verizon phone (work phone) directing me to verizonsummerdiscount.com". The website is a direct copy of Verizon's home page with a "login here" box added, complete with bad grammar ("Please fill all the field correctly").
You can type anyting you want in the 3 boxes and it will say "Congratulations. You have successfully applied for your discount." and then the scammers will have whatever info you typed in the boxes, so try it for fun, but don't put your real info! I suggest "1", "2" and "3" (that works).
Incidentally, making a convincing fake copy of a website like that is very easy; you can usually literally copy the website code and images from the real thing with any browser, without recreating anything.
Just got a call from this number telling I had won $100 discount on my Verizon bill, go to verizonsummerdiscount.net to claim it. This could have come from a site I registered for something and they asked who my carrier was. I won't be answering that again. Scammers need to be shut down.
I just got this scam call too. I'm totally broke and was super excited, but my stoner brain couldn't remember which website to go to, so I Googled Verizon $100 reward and found this. Thank God!
I got this call around 6pm Detroit E.T. and I answered it and got the recording, I get hit with ebay and paypal scams and never fall for it but like sayrah my stoner brain was ready for a nap lol and all I could think was $100!!! but I also have a $100 credit coming to me from the price drop of the razr maxx and I was supposed to get a call or email so I think that was what made me fall for it other wise I am pretty cautious. Well a soon as I filed in my user name and password and I saw the pin/ss I filled the the 4 digits and it said the congrats msg I knew I shouldnt of done it..........I called in less then 5 min and they unregistered my account then I registered a new account with new user ID and new password and for the time being I deleted all my checking and credit card information and will just manually put that in when I pay. I caught it in time and verizon rep said it better to sign in with my use id then my phone number because at least I can change my user id.
I am such an idiot I never fall for this Shite! im just glad I called right away and closed my internet account
