Just got a call from the same number. The message I received told me to log onto verizonthankyou.com for a $100 towards my next phone bill. I checked it out and as much as I could tell the page was a mirror image of the actual verizon website. The difference was in the log in menu, which looked similar to Verizon's site, but asked for more info. The links on this fake page seem to send you to the real Verizon page from what I could tell.
I got a similar call. They told me I was selected for a $100 discount off my next bill if I went to www.myverizonpromo.com. There is no such site. Annoying and disappointing!
They are getting smarter. It's still a scam they used myverizondiscount.com with me. When you go to that site you are asked for your phone number, your password and your pin. And it looks just like verizon.com!!!!
First I went to whois.com and looked both myverizondiscount.com and verizon.com. They are not owned by the same people.
I then called Verizon and after being transferred around a bunch I educated the guy that answered the phone. He didn't understand what phishing was; and I was talking to the fraud dept! Are you kidding me?
I advised them to put a notice on their website advising their customers that it is phishing and to ignore it.
I could you use the hundred bucks so I'm disappointed! But not surprised!
It's absolutely a fraudulent phone call. The voice mail said to login into my Verizon acct. I got a text recently stating that my account had an issue and I needed to log in but the link was obviously fake. I feel sorry for people who are not so computer literate and might fall for this. I wonder how they got my number? I received the same call just now but did not answer.
