I received this call today. I did not answer because I do not answer calls from numbers I do not recognize. I did try to call back but it said the number was disconnected. My husband draws SSA and they have office in Virgina but I do not know anyone there besides that and I believe the SSA would have left a message.
Please help keep these people off our phones. If you cannot reverse call someone back to see who the company is, they have no right calling me.
OMG they have called every day for 3 weeks to my personal cell that is on the block list. I finally answered it said it was from my "Credit Card services" and nothing is wrong with my account but better rates may apply for more info press 1. So I pressed 1 and got a real person and out of the gate she said she needed my name DOB and SS# to verify me I said no I just want you to stop calling and she replied "NO" and hung up on me.
I have had it with telemarketing I think we need to get a bill passed that evertime they call you they should have to pay a fee that goes toward your bill. If a human being makes the call lets say $1.00 each call and everytime a computer generated call that should be like $25.00 and if they call you and you are on the do not call list $1,000,000.00 then they can keep calling me.
There is a Federal law. Violations of the "do not call" registration result in $500 damages to the call recipient. You can sue them for the $500 in your local small claims court. But first, you need to know who to sue. The only way to do this is to sue the owner of that number and subpoena the local provider of that exchange to learn the owner of that number. Then, serve the owner. You will get a judgment for the $500 and the costs to get the judgment. Then, try and collect.
P.S. So far, I've been fortunate enough to get a total of $1,500 from some of these people.
