called me saying that our dad was involved in a car accident where he crashed into his '87 chevy while driving on the panama highway and he was now held hostage at "hola spot post" in west mexico, and we needed 2 send a box with 99€ in it to teh base.
Two days ago my brother recieved a phone call from this number saying that his sister got into a car accident and that they were holding me for randsom. My brother says well she has full coverage insurance and the guy said that his friend has trouble with the law and they want 1500 or they will kill me. Wow Thats crazy.
I got a call yesterday from a different number, 727-249-4481, with the same story. My brother hit his car, they got into a scuffle, and now he has a gun to my brother's head. Then, he wanted me to go to Winn Dixie or Kmart and wire him $1,000. The story was plausible enough since my brother lives in the 727 area code and I couldn't confirm his whereabouts while on the phone with this criminal. On the other hand, I don't live anywhere near a Winn-Dixie or Kmart. The police pulled me over for using a cell phone while driving and the guy hung up. Once I explained the story to the police, no ticket was issued.
i just was a victim of this scam. I believed it they called me and my father in law saying my husband hit their motorcycle and the person he was with took off. they explained he was in an apartment bleeding from being hit in the head and i had to bring 1500.00. they said he would be killed they even text messaged me. i explained we had insurance and that kidnapping is illegal they said no police. I said let me speak with him and if he instructs me to bring money i will. They ofcourse couldnt put him on the phone. I am so disturbed this was horrible. I almost crashed myself when I got the call. what is this world coming to. How did these peaople get our personal ifo.
same thing happened to me this morning. It needs to be broadcast on the news so noone can be hurt by this. My husbands father became very frantic trembling as I did as well.
