Got the same call today, I have four serious allegations against me and an arrest warrant will be issued in twenty four hours if I don't call back immediately. How do we report these people
Left message saying that they're with the IRS and to call them back within 24 hours to avoid further legal action. Stated I'd be taken into custody by local authorities.
I didn't even know they called. Just saw I had a new voice mail, so I listened to it. They must have started talking as soon as my V.M. picked up coz the msg began mid-sentence. "Blah, blah, blah, taken under custody by the local good as there are 4 serious allegations pressed on your name at this moment. Blah, blah, get back to us to discuss before taking legal action against you. Thank you." At least they said thank you. LOL! I got a very similar call about a year ago. Used the same weird phrasing: "taken under custody" and "allegations pressed on your name." And what collection company or IRS employee would refer to local law enforcement as "the local cops?" Those 3 things are enough to tip someone off that it's a scam. I talked to someone who suggested I go to IRS website & report it. Give phone number and heart of the msg & they'll pursue it. And, that's what I did. Seems I'm gonna have to do it again.305
