Hi ... just got a call about an hour ago from a Middle Eastern person I couldn't even understand. Said his name was Daniel Thomas and my husband was a criminal and they were going to go to his company and arrest him and his manager. Said if he didn't call them, that he would be in alot of trouble. Alot of background noise (loud!) and said he was calling from "the law firm." That tips you to the scam right there!
I've gotten a few calls from this idiot, also says I'm going to get arrested. I don't even answer anymore. I want to call the police or FBI or someone like that but I don't know who's jurisdiction this is.
I want to report this activity also, I understand if people owe money. My husband has a terminal illness and is disabled we have poverty level income now. They know there is nothing they can do so they hire these type of fools to harass you. And it is harassment to threaten someone with arrest claiming to be an attorney.
What we need to do as a group is start a class action lawsuit against these shady collection agencies. It is a legitimate job if you follow the guidelines but what this man and what many others like him are doing is literally criminal. I am waiting for him to say he is coming to break my legs.
I am starting a petition to have the laws made harsher for this type of action. I believe with the law the way it is this would be a civil suit and of course none of us have the money to sue.
