Got a call from this number 3056003789 on 3/30/15, I have had many scam calls before and this fit the bill so I did not answer and let it go to voice mail. Here was the exact message I got.
"This telephone number is linked to a financial transaction that is currently under investigation it is possible you name and social security number is attached to this transaction I need to speak with you immediately regarding this matter I can be reached at 3056003789.
There was no name or company information left and there was a long pause between "reached at" and the number. I decided to call because I did have a large transaction recently but I wasn't going to give any information. I call back with no answer just a message that says transferring to another person. After the transfer a message popped up asking me to leave my name and phone number, so I hung up. I then proceeded to call back the following day and got the same transfer call but this time a lady picked up. I told her I got a call from this number and was asked to give a call back. She then proceeded to ask me my name; I cut her off and asked her what was her name and the company she worked for. She wouldn’t tell me her name but she said the company was some legal collection company. I wouldn’t tell her my name and kept cutting her off then she responded back is you name “Brandon something” So I responded yes even though that was not even close. The she asked me if she pronounced the last name correctly and I could hear her typing. I had done research on the number before I called back and found that it was out of Key West Florida, so I asked where they were located and she did say Florida. She then proceeded to explain that there was 2 payday loans “a while” ago that were tied to my name and phone number. I never had a payday loan. At this point she proceeded to tell me that they wanted to settle out of court because layers were expensive and that they could settle on an amount we agree to over the phone, bla bla bla. I let her go on of a min then proceeded to ask here how many people a day do you scam? Then I started yelling because I’m getting worked up over nothing and telling them that they are [***] for doing this to people. She then hung up on me during my rant and I have not heard back. I have gotten these types of calls before and they will call every few hours sometimes. If you do call back never give any of your information out name anything that want to get any money or information out of you so that can continue to use it. Sometimes they will even use real names and companies but a fake number so when you call it, it will redirect you to them. Some of these can be really convincing.

I received two calls yesterday and two more today, and I let all of them go to voicemail.  I had a recorded message left saying my phone number was linked to a financial matter, and that it's possible my name and social are linked as well.  Call him immediately... etc.  Definitely a spam call.

I got an identical message left on my phone and was immediately suspicious because they didn't say in the voicemail who they were and didn't use my name.  I figure if my phone is somehow linked to a financial transaction being investigated, the police would let know!

Exact same thing happened to me. Wanted me to pay $300 to settle, but I owed $979 with late fees etc. Told them I've never had a payday loan. She said obviously I applied for one and those fees you have to pay regardless. Told them I was speaking with my attorney. Called back today requesting all documents they have pertaining to this. Couldn't tell me name of payday loan company just that equity funding was the company that funded over 300 of them and who they were working for. Told her I thought it was scam she said no we deal with that every day. Supposedly emailing a "validation" letter from "processing" to prove it to me, but we shall see.  I'm going to send letter (if I even get it) to the AG and report them.
