Called and asked to speak to my Father ' who is terminally ill with stage 4 brain cancer ' and talked to him... would not talk to my mother saying they have an interpreter ' heard my dad say that he will send my mom but he forgot about what to tell my mom and where he is sending her ' smh this HIPPA law is the pits ! They will have to call back '' if it was important .
At about 10:15pm, I received two calls by the 307.200.4080 number. I ignored the first since I didn't recognize the # calling from Wyoming. However, shortly after the first call, I received a second call by the same #, which I thought could be important if it's calling again. Upon answering I could only hear background noises including typing sounds, then a sudden hello after several attempts from my end to respond. The person responded first in Spanish then someone from what seemed another line asked in English if I needed a translator. He asked if I had made an emergency call. When I told him they have the wrong number, I could hear the English translator tell the other operator that he could disconnect. It was such an awkward, creepy call that it's made me wonder if I was a target of a scam or possible stolen identity victimization.
This number is being used by the Santa Rosa, CA, police department. Apparently, they try to begin their calls in Spanish.
Obviously, this is not a phone in Wyoming. For whatever reason, the SRPD appear to have fabricated this number (which is why it shows as a non-working number when you try to call them back). Having worked in telecommunications for more than a decade, I'm confident it's as illegal legal for a police department to do this as it is for some call center in India.
Heard a woman speaking in French, then the message was translated for someone named Rose, about the procedure needing to be restarted for certification? Felt like I was listening to a party line. Have no idea what it was all about.
