Came up as missed call and left voice mail instructing "this is not a sales call". I googled the phone number and brought up this site so I knew not to return the call. This call has come up before after I received a new phone number at Christmas but it was an 800 number. I called it back and it too answered American Agency. I have no unpaid debts or settled debts at all and never have.
I keep getting a call on my personal/company line and the message is cut short so I can not tell who it is or if they are someone legitimate. Their call take time away from my clients who need to reach me takes up voice mail for legitimate business. Cold calling is not allowed on cell phones in Florida.
American Agencies is a 3rd party collection agency. They start off and say, "This is not a sales call, please call 1-877-728-8910. It will also show up on your phone as Call Center or ACA Receivables. They are a collection agency and have bought old debts and are trying to collect on them. The debts can be as old as 10 years and they will try to intimidate you so that you will pay them. They also get your name and will try to make you pay on a debit that has been paid off. After 10 years who has the proof they paid it off and they know that.
Under no circumstances acknowledge who you are or pay them, or start a payment plan, otherwise it shows up on your credit report, plus they will tack on all kinds of charges.
They will try to scare you, but as long as you do not start making a payment to them it will remain an old debt. It probably doesn't even show up on your credit report anymore because it is so old and it could even be an old debt that you paid off, but you can't prove it.
Call F.T.C. at 1-877-382-4357 and report them.
You can actually sue the collection company for this violation and be awarded $1,000.00 per the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

my daughter was scammed on a bill 10 yrs old. She was a minor at the time, the bill was mine and insurance had already settled the debt 9 years earlier. They intimidated her and got her to pay. Don't be fooled by these phony.
