Received a call from this number and the guy was telling me about the sweepstakes as well and about sending me magazines. He called me sir and laughed when I would get upset. He also called me back several times after I hung up on him. I have since been calling the number back myself over and over again & they have some kind of machine that makes noise and they act like we have a bad connection. He don't hang up though... I wait until the noise stops and I can here him and then he hangs up. I am going to report them to the police.
we received a call three times yesterday from an "unknown name". the first two times it was dead air and my husband hung up, the third time it was a woman saying that we had won the "Dreams come true sweepstakes". My husband told her no and that we weren't signed up for any sweepstakes and hung up on her. I believe that is was the same people all three times that called from the "unknown name". I know this is a scam but not alot has been reported about it. So watch out for the "unknown name" caller now too.
A man called from this number saying I was entered into a sweepstakes to win money, a car, or some other prize. He then said that I was able to get 3 free magazine subscriptions. He asked me to confirm my address and the asked me how the weather was. I told him I didn't want any of the magazines and then said "well bye then" making fun of may accent and hung up. This call came after one before from 866-280-4252 offering me free gas and food coupons if I pay a $1 intro rate for some program. They talked to fast for me to understand.
I called my bank after receiving this call to make sure that I was notified of any charges. They told me to keep a close eye on my accounts and to call as soon as I anything odd so they can correct it and try to find the person who is behind it. They said that phone numbers like this have been calling and then making numerous charges for "fees" on accounts. The longer you wait after one of the "fees" have been removed, they said it is harder to correct.
Called me, saying that I had won a prise from "Dreams Come True sweepstakes"
Said that my name had been entered by "a major credit card or national bank"
Told he that would be quite a trick since I do not hold a credit card and do not bank with any national bank. She said I would be notified by certified letter of my prise and then said have a nice day.
I don't know where she got my number. Been getting a lot of marketing and hang up here lately though. must be time to up date the do not call registry.
