some lady called me and asked for fred which happens to be my husbands name then she asked me if this was his wife she was talking to and i barely heard her so I said "Im sorry?" and she hung up on me. So I tried calling back numerous times with no answer and decided to use reverse directory to see where the call was coming from and came up with Barbara and Maxwell Sommers, then I googled those names and thats how I found this page.
Called my cell phone. Said they were from "Publishers' Headquarters". Said I had been entered into their contest by either my bank or credit card company. Said I was a finalist in their drawing and that the final drawing was going to be on Aug. 31. Said I will have a choice of six magazines for four years for free. (Apparently they'll be sending me a list.) Verified my address and asked age. We'll see if this is a scam and if they contact me again with something fishy.
Called my home phone. Said they were from "Publishers' Headquarters". Said I had been entered into their contest by either my bank or credit card company. Said I was a finalist in their drawing and that the final drawing was going to be on Aug. 31. Said I will have a choice of prizes including a Saturn Vue, a cruise for two, or some large sum of money. Only problem: I don't have a credit card and have only been with my bank since February--according to the caller I was entered into this contest in December. They would not tell me who/which company entered me. Sounded fishy to me so instead of verifying ANYTHING, I asked to be removed from their list. The caller never addressed me by my last name or mentioned my last name which was also suspicious.

Received a call. The lady asked for Phil. I said "this is he". She rattled off the Publisher Headquarters information, and told me that my bank had entered me in a contest called "Dream of a lifetime" or something, and then she rattled off my address and asked for verification. Before I could tell her that I did not want to take part, she said "whatever" and hung up on me.
