Got some information on this from http://www.phonevalidator.com/. The owner is a company named DIGITCOM SERVICES INC out of LOS ANGELES, CA. I reported the number to the FCC via the do not call registry.
I got a letter in the mail addressed to my sisters address, my name, and her car info. THEN I get a phone call from this number the other day, I do not answer numbers I don't know. I looked it up and nothing on the internet.
Today I get a call from another number, I look that number up and a list of complaints. The same as these listed here, so I looked up this number (the first call) and find 5 complaints SINCE the first time I got the phone call. I do not give out my phone number to anyone for anything especially my cell. I read somewhere that cell phone numbers were going to be free game when it comes to solicitation so I guess it has begun. Maybe I should call my cell phone provider.
This is an Identity Theft phishing scam - they tell you it is for an Extended Car Warranty, once they get your Credit Card number they charge thousands of dollar on it. It uses a sequential number Auto-dialing computer (Calls EVERY phone number by adding 1 to the previous phone number) and is run by criminals.... they could care less about the Do-Not-Call list. The phone number seen on Caller ID is "spoofed", which means it is not the number from which the call was placed - they just pick some random number to use when the computer dials the calls. In all probability, the calls are coming from Russia, Nigeria or another one of the countries that are known for email scams - IT IS THE SAME PEOPLE that send out Email phishing scams! The worst thing you can do is answer, that validates your phone number as a "real" phone number. It is then added to a list that they originator uses REPEATEDLY to call you... and then it is put on a list that is sold to other scammers (criminals, really) at a premium price, because it is then on a list of valid cell phone numbers!
