They hung up when I answered, probably because I'm not a nice guy on the phone (or off). It sounds like the same group that called a few weeks ago from Maryland with a cockamamie story about an unpaid bill and a law suit. I told them to bring it on! I never heard from them again
called saying there was a civil suit being filed against my husband and must respond within 24-48 hours. sounds like the thing that dateline did a story on (scams).
Here is the exact message from some moron:
This is claims processor Mackenzie Johnson, this message is for ***** in regards to a civil complaint which is being filed against you and is being formulized (sic) through your coverage county. Pursuant to claim case number ABC123, well you have been named as a respondent and must appear. You or your legal counsel can contact my office at (312) 265-4627. When responding please refer to case number ABC123. Failure to respond will result in further actions and litigations will be filed against you.
What an absolute steaming pile of crap. These idiots ARE bill collectors who bought old debts for next to nothing and they are trying to collect bills from 10 years ago of my ex wife. The Statute of limitations in California is 4 years, so this debt is not collectible. They use big words they dont even know the meaning of, hoping to find someone who will send them money and then they will probably keep calling and asking for more. DO NOT GIVE THESE IDIOTS ANYTHING!! They are shooting in the dark hoping to hit something. [***].
I have received several calls on my answering machine (starting in mid 2008) from this man saying he is special investigator James Arcadie and then the SAME guy months later saying he is special investigator Mackenzie Johnson. Tries to sound very intimidating. Says there is a civil complaint against me in my county. Must call him or I will be taken to court.
I've called my county court and they said the case number does not even match the numbering system they use for cases. It's a scam. Also calls from 312-265-5123.
He called again today (April 2009) I actually answered the phone today when he called, he asked for me, without identifying myself I just asked "what is this regarding" and he would not say, just kept asking for me by name, I asked him again "what is this regarding" and then he hung up. I guess I was wasting his calling time and figured he would go on to his next phone number and try to find someone he could scare.
