I could tell immediately from the background noise, he was calling from a call center. He asked for me by name. I said it was me. He indicated his record said the factory warranty on my vehicle had expired. (He mentioned the make model, and year of my vehicle.) I asked if he was trying to sell me something. He repeated my vehicle information and said the factory warranty had expired. I asked again if he was trying to sell me something. He said, "Pardon?" I spoke slowly and asked, "Are.you.trying.to.sell.me.something?" He said he was trying to provide information on how I could renew the warranty on my vehicle. I said I wasn't interested. There was a pause, and he disconnected the call.
Unsure of the company name, but the caller ID said "Chicago, IL"
312-273-1398 is some [***] from Chicago that starts off wanting you to tell him the miles on your car. I would imagine they attempt to sell you some useless extended warranty but in reality they just want your credit card number. The FEDS are useless and will not do anything since it's no money in their pockets to stop these scams. These phone scammers need to be all hung, period.
