This # 312-273-1573, called me a minute ago, someone named Joan was asking about Health Insurance, after I said I have that already, she hung up on me, how dare her hang up on me, she sounded cute.
The automatic billing scam is: Your phone rings and hangs up after one ring. You call it back. Your call is rerouted to a Jamiacan exchange (or insert corrupt Carribean nation here) and you are put on hold. Because you called it, they can bill you-- like the old 976 numbers. Starts at $20 when you connect and adds $1 a minute you are on hold.
This number called, so I called back. A guy answered that I had gotten a grant from the Federal Government. All I needed to do was tell them that I wanted it and what store I would be picking it up at (like CVS, Dollar General, basically a store that has a Western Union or a money wire service). I asked him what the catch was and he said no catch sir. I said "This sounds like a scam." He replied, "This is not and quit wasting my time sir!" I told him to bite me and hung up.
I received several calls from this number and it says Health Services. I do not know who they are. I asked them to stop calling me and that worked for a little while and then it started again. I asked them to stop and they didn't so I reported them on the National Do Not Call Registry. I don't think the call was a recorded call because when I asked them not to call "Joan" said she would take my number off their list. Of course that didn't happen because I got another 2 calls this morning.
