I am going through an identity theft crisis. I have been called by Bus Office HH (This is how it
appears on the caller ID). They called me repeatedly. When I answer there is no one on the
line. The number on the caller ID is 312 348 1534. I tried calling back. I get electronic noise,
not a fax machine but some other wierd electronic noise. This happened about a dozen times
over a month. Finally they called, I answered and a lady asked to speak to me about the money
I owed to Peoples Gas. I explained I never had an account with Peoples Energy also called Peoples
Gas. This was a fraudulent account. I asked if she needed a copy of the Police Report. She said no. Peoples Energy should have notified them this account was fraudulent. Peoples Energy phone# is
866 556 6001. If you are having problems with Peoples Energy, You may also have a fraudulent
account with Commonwealth Edison, Phone#630 684 3320. Comcast, and Direct TV. Where
I work there are several emplyees such as my self going through this problem. Save your old
utility bills to prove correct residence. Contact these companys. We think somebody who once
worked for our company gained our information. Also they have friends who work for these utilitiy
companys. Peoples Energy is definately suspect. They will ask for a lot of identity info. Comcast only
asked for copys of utility bills, and id info. If you have a problem with this get a police report. If your
township won't give you this go to the county Sheriff or State Police for this report. Call a credit
agency and get a credit freeze or fraud alert. I had problems with transunion. Experian was
cooperative.
Received a call. Is HARRIS AND HARRIS - in an attempt to collect a debt. Obviously a debt collector. Can't collect what I do not have.
They will also threaten you with collection; if not over the phone, in the mail!
Also, since I sent a cancellation notice to disconnect in 2009, and the utility (Nicor in my case) did not disconnect the service, why should I pay? This is January 2012. I don't EVER expect to pay you.
And no, I have never heard of a law that "requires" you to keep the gas on so that the house does not have frozen pipes. Wouldn't matter either - I had the water and electric turned off in 2009, too!
