I got a call from someone with a thick Indian accent who claims to be an officer & calling from State police. I was told I needed to call Sam Wilson back within 30 mins or I was going to get picked up due to a warrant. First of all the caller ID said 911 but the vm has the number unknown. However I called back & try to get information but when I kept asking the guy for info so I could give to my attorney he got frustrated & said are you going to pay or not. I told him no not until I get the info I needed. Then he hung up. No one will answer the number now.

SICK OF THIS
I just got the same call saying the same thing. When the call came through my phone it actually rang through as Emergency number 911. I have a lot going on in my family right now, so this scared the crap out of me !!! Did you do anything about this? I need to know who to contact to get this stopped!! Two weeks ago they called me and said if I didn't return the call that my mother would be dead and then called me a mother f*****!!! Really because professional AMERICAN businesses threaten people like that, right? UGH It is so frustrating!!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

Got a call from 911 though it could something regarding family. Message says police officer Wilson. Then when I calm back he says he's from the attorney generals office. I asked for his address then so I could research. Someone was the background was telling him what to do and say and he couldn't get me the address for nearly 5 mins. Tried to act like he couldn't hear me. He had a ba accent said I'd be arrested if I didn't pay. I don't recall anything about cash advance. I told him I was going to research this further with my bank and he didn't want to hear that.
