I get calls from this number and ignore them.
Have entered the name "DO NOT ANSWER!" in my cellphone, which takes calls switched from my home phone.
Another tactic when I am called from a solicitor.
I play the role of stalker and ask, "What are you wearing?"
If they describe innocuous outer clothing, "No. I meant what are you wearing under that?"
One woman told me I couldn't talk to her like that but I reminded her that she had called ME.
Just act real friendly and swarmy and see if you can get under their skin.
Got a call from this as well on a Saturday night. Since these are automated surveys about the Democrats (politics) our number is not covered under the Do Not Call List. Political solicitation, surveys and charity are free to call who they want supposedly. Other companies have to check the DNC list every 31 days and update their list so we are bound to get calls the first time around until they check the list. It would be helpful if all these companies would check the list BEFORE they go into business!
FROM DNC LIST WEBSITE FAQ:
Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of “telemarketing.” Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000 .
If the call is really for the sole purpose of conducting a survey, it is not covered. Only telemarketing calls are covered — that is, calls that solicit sales of goods or services. Callers purporting to take a survey, but also offering to sell goods or services, must comply with the National Do Not Call Registry.
If you do not want unsolicited people calling your phone, invite the most annoying to send a sales representative to meet you in a secluded location, then kill him and flee the scene. Word will get round*. Don't use your real name. Say you're a friend of the family staying there but would really like to know about the free vacation offer.
Do Not Call list not working? Try Do Not Live then. It's not perfect but no return calls are 100 percent guaranteed!
* Participants in the Do Not Live option may be required to spend time in the state penitentiary and could be subject to other penalties, if caught by law enforcement. Think carefully before deciding to participate. But if you do decide to, we salute you!
