I just called the number back 888-907-0906 (there are numerous variants of this number so heads up for those getting text messages about a "job")
I called the number back this time because I have gotten similar text messages saying "Hi XXXX, I just reviewed your application for the Manufacturing position you applied for. Please call me at 888-907-0906". I decided enough was enough. The young sounding guy on the phone right away says "Hi, my name is Jake. Is this XXXX?" Now...that is messed up. He knew my name instantly. Anyway, I said "Jake, look man. I am really trying hard to find a job. If a company was interested in hiring me they wouldn't kick things off with a TEXT MESSAGE" He claims they do the interviewing on behalf of the company that's hiring. I asked him "Okay Jake. If you know the name of the company that's interested in hiring me, please give me the name because I have a whole list of company names I have written down that I've submitted resumes/applications for work" He was caught off guard and became really defensive. He said the company wanted to remain anonymous. He tried again and again to get my "information" to "begin the interview process". Yeah right. I told him look, just remove my information from your database because I don't have time for this. He tried to assure me they were a legitimate company. I said "since when does a company interested in hiring send you a TEXT MESSAGE?!" He immediately said "Okay. You are no longer considered for the position and you will be removed from our system". oooooohhhhhh soooooo scared!
Keep in mind that there are indeed 3rd party companies that do the interviewing for the company that is hiring. Many of those do in fact remain anonymous. However, the number(s) associated with said numbers are not who they say they are. Bottom line - stay alert. Don't give them personal information.
There are programs that scan sites like Career Builder, Hot Jobs and Craigslist (and others) and look for phone numbers and email addresses so you can get spammed with their false crap and unwanted calls for things like "online education/online college". I got a call last week in fact, from a woman asking if I wanted to further my education online because I indicated that on a job application (which I did NOT mind you...on ANY job I applied for).
I received the same text message, originating at 312-519-1016 but to call 888-907-0619. Thank goodness for website information like this. People who prey on the unemployed should be ... well ...
I got the same text message. I took the time to call the number back and got a call center for "employer services". They said they wanted to verify the information on my resume but when asked what company this was for, what source they got my resume from or any other details about the position I was given the "company wants confidentiality" BS.
Good luck on your job hunt guys!
THAT S CRAZY I INSTANTLY GOOGLED THIS NUMBER AFTER RECIEVING THE SAME TEXT MESSAGE, ADDRESSED TO ME STATING CALL BACK IN REGARDS TO MY RESUME, THE FACT OF THESE RECENT COMMENTS WITHIN THE LAST 24 HOURS IS CRAZY BECAUSE IM NOT SURE IF THEY ARE PREYING ON THE UNEMPLOYED OR NOT BUT I A M VERY SKEPTICAL...IT WOULD BE GREAT TO CONFIRM HOW THEY RECIEVED OUR INFO AND IF IN FACT THEY ARE LEGITIMATE .
Same text messsage, same numbers. Thanks to Google and the rest of the "posters". This just proves that we may be unemployed but certainly NOT STUPID! Good Luck to us all!
Got a text message from this phone number stating that the reviewed my application for the admin position I applied for. please call me at 888-907-0620. They are praying on the unemployed they are a Scam and I will not call! If I recieve another message I am going to pursue with harrassment charges! This is ridiculous
