Yeah they called me a million times and I believe there is another number coming from then as well 866-563-9998. I have no idea who these people are and they are starting to piss me off calling at 8:30 in the morning. I am about to pick up and scream at whoever is calling me.
I believe this is a collection agency... I was reciving several calls from them, and wouldn't answer because I didn't reconize the phone number... Upon calling back to find out whom it was, I was connected with a Sallie Mae agent......
Have received numerous calls from this number, despite telling them not to call back and that they are (obviously) in violation of WI state law, national FCC law, etc. The rep there claimed she is with Sallie Mae. I had a (now ex, heh) friend list me as a reference on her loan with them years ago - not a co-signer, just a reference (i.e., she gave them my phone number and address) - without my permission. My ex-friend defaulted on her loan, and this company has been harassing me ever since, trying to get me to make her call them, because she won't return their calls to her. This company is insidious, they basically have ignored any requests from me to remove my phone number from my ex-friend's account, to stop contacting me, etc. I have already started a complaint file against them with the FCC, and come Monday morning (tomorrow :), I am calling my state senator's office to get their assistance as well. So anyway, beware - once they have your number, they will not stop calling you (and will switch numbers from time to time, etc., probably to get around anyone who might try per-number blocking). In my case, at least, I know why they're targeting me. But for those of you who haven't a clue, some a-hole probably made up a fake name and number on their Sallie Mae application under references, and you just happened to have the bad luck of having that phone number for real.
yeah it's sallie mae, I do owe money but I put in for a forbarence and they still call to get money, obviously if I put in for a forbarence this means I don't have the money....damn shame that they call anybody even if it was for a reference for a student loan not a co signer,....
