Thanks for the clarification. Before moving to Chicago a few years ago,
I lived for many years in Suffolk county, Long Island and don't remember
being bothered by donation calls. Now I understand why. Thanks.
chicago number, called on a sunday at noon - telemarketing firefighter and police fundraising group. legit, BUT the fine print:::: the company only donates 1.25% of what you donate. the rest goes to the salesman on the phone. so if you donate $10, only $1.25 goes to the firefighters/police. I WANT HIS JOB!!! -- youre better off handing a ten dollar bill to your local police station!
Are you sure this is totally legitimate? In my state there are no telephone solicitations for either the police or the fire departments or the state troopers. I have called my local precinct and the state troopers? they have all said the same thing. The fire departments mail out a yearly donation request form. Ask for a mailing by US mail before you give anything over the telephone.
Called on a sunday afternoon and I did not recognize the number. I instantly blocked it with my CPR Call Blocker V108 - which has capacity to block 1200 of these robocallers - and problem was instantly solved. Money well spent, as it has eliminated 98% of these spammers.

It would be relevant and interesting to know
which state is your state. PLEASE tell us!
(Here I am assuming that you do not have any
impediment for including such information,
but may you do.)
Unfortunately, in the state of Illinois such
solicitations are legal.
