just called, chicago area just brief static. didnt answer, machine pivked it up. unlisted landline.  these calls are worse than they ever were. i never answer a call i dont recognize, have always had an unlisted number (34 years) used call block and yet get 4-5 calls a day from random numbers that are spam, "private", misspelled spoof IDs, some State number, etc.  it is an assault and it is utter BS the phone companies cant/wont/dont want to have control over who  abuses their numbers and lines and resources.
