Received a voice mail from 312-789-5686 saying that I won something and to call back a toll-free number - where are these guys from? Most have nationwide toll-free calling these days don't we? Also said they were aware of the do not call list and this was not a cold call. Who uses that term except someone making a cold call?
I've been getting voice mails on my cell for 6 months from this number telling me to call 866-430-3180 ext. 124. Always a recording from "Melvin" at the "Notification Center" telling me I entered to win a car (I NEVER give out my cell # to people I don't know and I don't enter contests). Saying they're aware of the do not call list (I am on it and have reported at least 5 of their calls), that it's in my best interest to call back and that he has called multiple times and this is his last attempt (promises, promises!).
When I've tried to answer the calls there is no one there. I called back the number "Melvin" left about 3 months ago and reached a woman who said she would put me on their do not call list. I still got calls from them. Now this week I'm getting the same voice message from "Melvin" from a different #:708-248-7796, asking me to call him at a new #: 888-284-8918 ext. 124. I called from my home phone, dialing *67 first to block my name and number from appearing on their end. I reached a woman who said "Let me get my do not call list so I can add you" (really? a hard copy list, not in their computer?). She then said she would add my # to her list and she read me my HOME phone # that I had tried to block AND my husband's name to their do not call list. I said that's fine, but I also want my cell # on the list so they stop the calls the've been making to it. She said OK and again gave my husband's name as the owner of the cell #. Soooo, what kind of equipment do they have that can get caller ID from blocked calls?
