called today on our landline and it says "out of area" despite that the 312 area code is Chicago so it's not out of area even within 200 miles. this number is close to one of our cell numbers, and im also getting a lot of calls lately to my cell where the caller number is the same area code, prefix but the last 4 digits are a few off mine.
interestingly, this all started when i had to call AT&T about issues we have with our Uverse service which encompasses our landline and our cell phones. so, all 4 separate phone numbers on our account are suddenly getting spammed daily with look-similar numbers that are "out of area" when theyre not. i talked to some foreign country when i called and was transfered from the Philippines where they kept me talking and not helping for 45 minutes then said they have no access to the tech stuff to check the equipment so transfered me to a guy who sounded russian but wouldnt tell me where he was located. "central europe"
so all these nonAmerica folks have access to all our info, billing, every number even if you werent calling bout it and can reset your passwords and help themselves to anythung. is it a wonder all our stuff is being mrketed, were being phone spammed and we have no recourse? obviously the phone company is compromised within itself and doesnt care. every time we call about a phone issue nd talk to ATT we get calls and spam for a solid month or two anew
