Caller claimed he was looking for "Dominic" - when advised he had wrong #, he than said "We'll maybe you can help" and started an Amvet donation read. I said "no" not interested. He said "conversation recorded" and hung up. These guys suck. It was a random call looking for donations for a non-prof that actually gets a tiny amount of what they collect.

Amvets is a very reputable and worthy charity for american veterans. We give regularly and have never been hassled or mistreated when we didn't have anything for a pick-up.
I don't quite know what this caller's BS is, but they're obviously involved in something shady. Other posters have mentioned that this caller has claimed to be a debt collector as well as operating on behalf of a few different charities. I'd bet that the truth is that it's none of the above, and even answering the phone gives information to these scammers that we'd prefer that they don't have.
