I've been receiving 1-2 calls a day from this number on my cell phone. I never pick up, and they never leave a message. Finally today I called the number from my work phone and they greeted me with "Thanks for calling back, what is the number we've been trying to reach you at?". I asked what this is regarding first, and they said they're with the Connecticut Post (the newspaper I had delivered up until last month). They pitched a Thursday-Friday-Sunday deal for 49 cents a week. I said whatever and she said her manager would call back shortly to go over billing. When he called back, he confirmed my address and asked which credit card I want billed. I told him I'm not giving him my credit card number over the phone. He assured me it's safe, but I told him it's my rule. Also, I brought up that the Connecticut Post would bill my automatically so they already have my card info on file. He said he didn't have access to their records. I immediately told him to forget it. Considering it's a Chicago area code, it's fishy with a capital F. I will check with the actual Connecticut Post people to confirm whether or not this was legit, but definitely don't give them your bank info over the phone. That should be everybody's rule anyway.
