There was a report on the local news a few months back about this IRS scam. I've received about 8 recorded messages since watching the report, so thank goodness I already knew this was a scam!! The messages before had a call back number with a 206 area code. Now this number is listed to call back!! It's useless to report these scum bags, so I just ignore them. Okay, you phoney IRS agents!! Game on!! If you want me bad enough to threaten me with a lawsuit, go ahead!! Send me a certified letter like you're supposed to, then maybe I'll pay attention to you!! Otherwise, all future "final notices" will STILL be ignored!!! And BTW ya'll can go kiss my grits!!!!
I am a CPA in public practice in MD. This caller claims to be the IRS calling with a notice that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. This is a scam. The IRS NEVER uses the phone to inform taxpayers of such things. I blocked this number.
A friend of mine got a call saying they were the IRS and they owed money from that # she knew it was bogus and hung up .Her husband called the # and they picked up it was someone with an Indian accent her husband asked the guy if this was the IRS and the guy said yes .Her hubby and the guy on the other end were cursing each other out .most likely these people who have worked at the call centers or their family members do in India they have access to personal info of customer from Banks,Cable co. , even the antivirus companies like Symantec and Mcafee use them.
Got a call this morning at 5:56 A.M. Claims to be the IRS suing me. Call originates from Chicago. I did not answer of course. Wish there was a legitimate way to STOP these callers beyond buying a phone call blocker.
