Do any of you guys have collection companies try to contact you and you ignored the call? That might be them trying a different number to catch you off gaurd.
They need not use the DNC list.
Besides, it costs money to register and get the list.
Instead, they use "war dialers ... computers that generate numbers, and dial them.
Absolutely not true! They have no need to buy a list, the DNC list has to be purchased by legit business's. All the illegal callers do is plumb numbers into dialers or computers and start dialing numbers.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
Received the call at my business on Saturday. The caller wanted the name of the owner or mgr. She wanted to confirm the mailing address. She wanted to send me " information concerning secure opportunities". I told her I'm not interested.
This number just called our small business. Caller ID says ASIA PACIFIC. When I answered no one said anything, but I could hear a lot of murmuring in the background -- clearly a call center, and I'm sure the computer was hooking me up to the next available PITA. Per HTC (link provided by KATHRYN, above) it is owned by "Fereidoun “Fred” Khalilian and his company, The Dolce Group Worldwide, LLC, d/b/a My Car Solutions. Khalilian is well-known to the FTC from a 2001 settlement that banned him ..."
As stated by KATHRYN above, check this out. They're obviously bold and don't care what they're ordered to do or NOT to do. This is the type of place I detest. http://www.ftc.gov/news-events/press-releases ... ocall-operation
