I received a call @ 9:02AM on August 14, 2008 on my voice mail on my cell phone, which is on the do not call list by the way. He said, "This is Bill calling from the Price Distibution Center in regards to a contest that I had entered for the 2007 Lincoln Navigator, within the past 18 months. He said congradulations, the contest is over and I need you to call me back at 1-800-996-0081. Make sure you ask for me Bill, and again congradulations." Well i was suspicious of the phone call but I decided I would call back to see what was said. When i called the 800 number, you could tell it was a call center, i use to work at one. The lady that answered said "Thankyou for calling the Price Distribution Center." I asked to speak to Bill and she said "he is out of the office right now, but i can help you." I asked why was I called, she said "In regards to a contest on a 2008 Lincoln Navigator" but she needed my full name to start the process. I said I am not sure that you meant to call me dont you already have my name? she said "no". so I just hung up. I also noticed how she told me the contest was on a different year model then the message I was left
Thank you to all who have reported this! Yesterday I received a call from the "Prize Distribution Center". A man asking me to return the the call "as soon as possible" and ask to speak to "Mitchell". I was told I had entered to win a Lincoln Navigator. The message ended with a nice "congratulations". Believing this could be authentic, I returned the call. An answering machine picked up saying they were unable to receive the call but to leave my name and telephone number. So I did. I haven't heard from them yet. A while after, I began to wonder. So I Googled the number (1-800-504-6196)and was brought to this page. Thank goodness!
What should I do? How do I report this to the authorities?
Oh that is a bummer I have received 2 calls myself one from "Bill" and another from a women "Christie" I knew it was too good to true. But did not hurt to dream a little did it.
Hello, everyone. So, you all got called by the same "BS" artists that I got a call from. Funny how all of a sudden, and without ever having entered a contest, I get phoned about having won a 'Grand Prize';a Lincoln Navigator coincidentally enough, much the same as most of you here. I was to call Michelle at an 800 number for more information. This is clearly a "boiler room" operation working out of Chicago, Illinois. Perhaps the same folks that have been phoning me about extending the warranty on my car; again, like many others here. I guess that these scammer are going to get into hot water sooner or later because they are clearly violating the Do Not Call registrant's rights. Only time will tell.
