Same as the others posted: I received a call from this number w/ a voicemail about a supposed "serious legal issue". Received similar scam call about a year and half ago but from different number. Tip: never give your personal info to anyone who calls. You can also report these lawyer scams to the FTC via an online form.
I received a similar message, but a from a woman. She left the 312-967-7706 number on my work number, which is not published. Not sure how she got my work number, but glad to see this website and information about the number.
I received a call today from 312-967-7706 and I answered it. They did not ask me for my social although the message left at my house did say the same as mentioned about that it was a legal matter, have my social and stuff. The lady I spoke to was actually nice, which surprised me, she said I had an outstanding loan with Ace cash express, I told her I had it paid off and letter to prove it. I asked if she wanted the letter and she said no that was ok and she would take me off the list. We will see if she calls back again.
I think these are the same people that have been calling me from 312-971-6243 since December about some "important" legal matter.. Be careful, they are pretty smooth talkers and try to intimidate. I tell them I don't do business with scammers before they start their spiel and block their number. Doesn't matter though, they just spoof another number to call from every few months.
I have one credit card and a mortgage which I am current on and a 790 credit score. I wish they would lose my number for good!
If they call you, don't worry, they have 0 intent to litigate. They are just trying to intimidate money out of you. This is an old scam that can be easily researched on the internet. The FTC, FBI, State AG's all know about it but don't spend time or money chasing them. When people quit falling for it, they will go away!
It's ironic they start calling every year around tax return time to try to get your bank account info so they can clean it out.
Same posts as everyone else- this number called (312-967-7706) on both my landline and cell phone. Said her name is "Debra Smith" and legal matter against name and social security number. Already know it is a scam, they usually call around income tax time so they can part of your refund.
