the number is from a call center most likely in India. they have already busted hundreds of people from other call center there. all saying they are tax people or from the IRS. just tell them you work for the IRS and see how fast they hang up. :)
Angela, these callers don't care about the Do Not Call laws for two reasons:
1 — They're criminals. Their whole business is in stealing money from people by tricking them into thinking they're getting help on tax bills. That's fraud and theft, so they aren't going to worry about a minor law like DNC that carries only civil penalties.
2 — They're overseas, probably in India, so U.S. laws don't apply to them.
