This is a legitimate call.  We happen to have BCBS and they just wanted to know if we were satisfied with their insurance! Said that she was assigned to help us out if we needed help. She said she was glad that we were ok with the insurance and would call us back in about 3 months to see how we are feeling.  When she does call I will tell her not to bother again.  I don't need anyone from BCBS calling here to check on us.  Our Doctors keeps tabs on us -- I don't need this or any other company calling to "check" on us.  First, what can she do about my policy -- we don't pay for it, so we can't complain or make changes. I know who to see if I don't feel good!  This insurance is/was negotiated by our previous employer.  I guess these so-called helpers don't know who is paying for this insurance and why should they care, so I don't care to have her keep calling on us inquiring on the policy and our health. BCBS has taken their job of selling insurance a bit too far.  Senior Citizens today are a bit more savvy about their health and in better shape than their parents were!!!  Yea Seniors!

This was some BCBS of MI guy who says he's a Registered Nurse and is here to educated me about my health condition  but said he didn't know what my health condition was (how very odd). When I asked how he got my data, he said that all my recent claim history was handed to him by 'the computer' and he has to call and offer help. He said he had no idea if my Doctor knew if he was calling or not (very strange) and that he wasn't sure if this was a violation of HIPPA or not. Asked what he wanted from this call, he said I had a benefit and that my HR dept and Dr, knew about it. (even stranger) He refused to tell me whom he spoken to about my health condition but that he didn't know what it was.
Very muddled up caller, couldn't explain what he wanted, couldn't explain the so called 'benefit' and was not vetry convincing. The most disturbing aspect of this call was that he expected me to disclose all my health information to him, while he claimed he was from Blue Cross Blue Shield but there was no verification process to validate anything he was saying..
If this is a genuine BCBS of Mi service, they need to get it better publicized, have the introductory story straight and take legal advice on whether it contravenes HIPPA .
Conclusion - very amateur and possibly a scam.

Report this to BSCS. They will usually send you a letter with this type of info.
Also contact your Dr to see I'd they are involved with this. I believe you are right about the HIPPA violations but I'm far from an authority.
Good for you asking questions and not giving up info.

I just called my Blue Cross phone number from the back of my insurance card and asked them. They said 313-225-9000 is the main switchboard phone number for Blue Cross of Michigan, so it could be a call from any department from within Blue Cross.

I don't have BCBS, I have Kaiser so they shouldn't be calling me. It's a scam hiding behind a BCBS's number. It's called spoo-em and that way they find out if a legitimate person is answering at your number. After they gather that information then they play the spam game with you. Beware because your insurance company already have all of the basic information they need on you. Scamming is real and they have no respect of person. They need a voice and body to complete their mission. Today is Friday, 11/26/16 and I've received 3 calls from 3 different numbers already.  I didn't answer.  I stopped answering calls from numbers I don't recognize. DON'T BE SCAMED BY THESE MORONS.
