Apparently, Vitelity, LLC. only is the communication company that is supplying the phone lines. The callers/scammers claim you owe a debt, and if you don't pay them then terrible things will happen to you.
I am in the Detroit metropolitan area. It appears that they set their Caller ID to report that they are a local number, although most of the people complaining about these calls say the speakers have "Indian accents", which suggests an Asian "boiler room" operation.
This particular number --- (313) 450-0705 --- actually is for a local Belle Tire dealership --- a legitimate business ...
I had been called several times according to my caller ID as well as my receiving three mail msgs. stating my obligation to sending 33.oo to the Michigan Police Commanders Association. This evening, I answered the phone to see who this number was. The women INSISTED I AGREED in April to commit to 33.00. I told her NO I DID NOT. It was to Michigan Fraternal Order of Police. I got in the mail a confirmation from MPCA at the SAME address instead, and sent it. I NEVER HAD ANY CONTACT with MPCA. The woman was RUDE, ATTEMPTED TO BE RUDE, BUT I CORRECTED HER AND SHE HUNG UP ON ME. I am a strong supporter in law enforcement---NOT IN FRAUDULANT WAYS TO OBATAIN FUNDS.
I have been called three times by the same number as last night Vitelity (313)557-3597. According to my Caller ID, 23 times by phone and three times by mail. This is considered HARRASSMENT. IS ANYONE READING THIS?????? THIS IS VERY POOR REPRESENTATION FOR MARKETING PURPOSES OF OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT WHO STRIVES TO PRTECT AND SERVE.
NO MICHIGAN POLICE COMMANDERS ASSOCIATION found on the internet. I looked them up after the phone call. Trying to be helpful I asked for information. When I asked questions they told me I had committed to make a donation. I said NO more than once. Now have had two mail pieces. Resorted to sending them back in the envelope provided but with no stamp. Really disgusting tactics. Fraud.
