They said i was getting a $200 gift card and information about identity theft protection for 24.95 and 1 time fee of 6.95. wtf? The guy was talking so fast that it was hard to understand him. I told him that i was fine and he said the information will arrive in 3 days. They knew my name address and phone # nothing else though? How do i block crap like this.?
i received a call from "john". i was a preferred visa cardholder and was going to give me a 200 card for target, walmart, best buy. he wanted to sign me up for a 25000 insurance policy for identity fraud. for 6.95 per month with a 14 risk free trial. he already knew my last four of my visa card. i told him to delete me, delete my information, this number to never call me again. i dont want anything. he said he didnt want anything from me only to give the gift card. yeah right. i said you just wanted to sign me up for some identity fraud plan dont tell me u didnt want anything from me. and he proceeded to argue with me. i said please stop arguing with me and just delete me. and he said goodbye, that was it.
Has called me multiple times, up to 3 times a day for 3 days. When answered, it was quiet. I called number back. They said they were company called Consumer Advantage and were calling Visa and Mastercard holders. I told them to not call back again.
I order lots of things on the internet but use my spouses credit card with my phone number so when they call and ask for her I tell them she does not answer this phone .. stops them right away. Also like some others here I do not bother to answer calls that are outside of my current friends or permission based callers. There are only a few credit monitoring services that I would use and after years of not using one I finally found a good one but use it for my business credit only. Do not use a debit card online would be my warning to everyone because you have almost no recourse. American express cards are good choices for some of that but they also have a hefty yearly fee .. always monitor your bank accounts is my best advice.
