Just got a call from them. They hung up so I called back and got a recording. Pressed 1 which connected me with an operator. As soon as they get you on the line, they say "Hello what's your first and last name?" I decided to have some fun with them and called back several times asking them what their first and last name was and telling them that I was from the redemption center to offer them a $100 reward card. They propmtly hung up. I guess they don't like getting calls from telemarketers or phone scammers.
Called my cell phone and didn't leave a message. Since it is illegal for telemarketers to call cell phones in the first place, especially ones on the DNC list, it must be another scam.
I was worried that this Michigan number could be a sick relative, so I called back. I got the message about an affiiliate website, and pressed 1 to find out who these folks were. The heavily accented voice told me that I was eligible to receive 165 dollars worth of gift cards of various sorts. THEN they dropped the bomb - I would have to pay for postage and handling. Granted, it was only 5 dollars, but it clearly is the way that they make their money.
