I received the same message today. I have a lawsuit pending attached to my social security number and was told if I do t call back by June (it's now July) then good luck to me... Firstly, I don't take to kindly to threats. I called back and some guy who claimed he was the supervisor for the law firm answered and didn't have a clue. Told me I better wait until tomorrow to talk to Jeff Scott. I asked for him to transfer me to the person that call. If you pay attention the same person who answers the phone is the same fool that calls and leaves a message. I asked to be transferred to "Jeff Scott" and I was told his extension is busy and his mailbox is full... Really? And after I started saying something doesn't sound right I would mysteriously be disconnected. I called again and was supposed to be transfered to "Jeff Scott" and another person came to the line, this person sounds like the "supervisor" and "Jeff Scott". Now I call and no one answers. I don't know about you guys but most law firms answer their phones and if they are not there shouldn't a voice mail pick up? My plan is to annoy this butt hole like he did me.
SCAM! Heavy Indo-Pak accent left message threatening legal action. "Extremely time-sensitive!"
If you've ever been involved in a legal dispute, or been served papers, you'd know that attorneys in the US conduct official correspondence BY MAIL, usually certified, or "return receipt requested". Actual papers involved in legal action (lawsuits, subpoenas, etc.) have to be PLACED IN THE RECIPIENT'S HANDS. (That's how people can make a living as process servers.)
No legitimate attorney will call you out of the blue and threaten legal action.
I called these boneheads back out of curiosity. Heavy Indo-Pak accent answered, and asked what number I was calling from. (What kind of low-rent scammer doesn't have CALLER ID?) I refused, and said "Don't you have it on the screen there in front of you?" Heavy Indo-Pak accent just sighed and hung up the phone.
I didn't even get to mock him for the lameness of his scam.
This is a scam they just called me this morning at 6 am. If this was legitimate they would know you can not call and harass anyone before 8 am. It illegal in Arizona.
I've received a message and call from this number and it is a scam. It said that my name and social security number was linked to a lawsuit and that it was time sensitive and good luck if I ignore it. I called and the reception was terrible and there was a guy with a very heavy Indian accent. As soon as I mentioned that I was going to report it he hung up. I called again and said that I got disconnected and he hung up again. I called the police dept and they said this has been happening a lot and they change the numbers. She said that they could even use the police depts number to Call people. It's just crazy. The dead give away was when he used a nickname that I use when I'm not sure of a site's security or if I'd like to inquire about something and not give full personal info instead of my real name but . I'm glad I don't put my personal information when I'm browsing through sites that ask for names. Good luck everyone-as they would say!!
