This number called me also saying I had a legal issue that need to be resolved. This is what I did and I recommend you do as well. Call the FTC at 1-877-ftc-help OR visit FTC.gov and report the number. THEN call the do not call registry at 1-888-382-1222 and add your number to the do not call list. You can also contact the state Attorney General so they can prosecute these people. After that the best advice I can give is to not call them back. This just gives them more steam. They will eventually stop calling you. Good luck everyone!
Called and said I am in a very serious legal mess. Would not say much but supposedly over a cash advance loan from years back. Asked for proof and was told if I don't settle this matter now I will be paying more when I go to court. I said see you in court.
I got a call from these goofballs and they cat read some long affidavit about court costs and my state (which they didn't even know) was a zero tolerance state. He claimed they had the right to call my employer and tell them everything (which they absolutely do not under any circumstances). I kindly let the foreigner named "John Conner" (kudos for the Terminator refrence btw) that they did not have the right, or ability to file, press or pursue criminal charges and had absolutely no right to contact my employer. He tried to play it cool and say he'd just note the dispute, then I asked for teh BAR number of the lawfirm and he gave me the number KV180275 - which isn't a BAR number in any state for any attorney at all. When anyone gets calls from someone like this keep in mind that no collections agency has any legal authority to arrest you and they are not even allowed to say so. The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) has rather lengthy laws and regulations to protect consumers against this, and there is even a web page you can go to to file a complaint against them for doing things like this. So the next time anyone gets a call like this one, just let them know in a very polite and confident manner that you are going t onotify the FTC and then ask for their real name. Make sure and ask as many identifying questions as you possibly can, they'll freak out and leave you alone.
I just got a call from this number 315-370-4352, the started out by saying that they had criminal charges against me for fraud and ask my attorney name. I stated that I did not have an attorney, why would I need on. The indian descent language person stated that "you mean you have not been briefed on this" I said no. He said that the police will pick me up tomorrow for my court case. Then the guy got disconnected from call. Not sure what to make of the call, but I do know if I really had to be at court I would had been served.
I got the same exact call with the same exact message...So annoying. I called back and a man with a middle easthern accent pick up saying law office. Yeah right..I hung up.
